Paper jams actually are the most common cause of printer problem. Printers jam for any number of reasons, including dirt in the paper path, the wrong type of paper being used, or worn printer rollers. Keeping printer components clean can prevent paper jam problems, but roller replacement may also be necessary, and this can be a difficult job depending on the model of HP printer.

Printer Driver Problems
A message like “Can’t find a driver for a particular operating system“ indicates a software problem with the printer dirver. Often, newer operating systems need new drivers to be loaded for an existing printer. And, not all printers will have a driver for every operating system. Most HP printers use the HP LaserJet II driver, although specific options, such as duplexing, will not work if the printer does not support the option.

In general, HP printers are considered to be the most reliable in the industry. But, like any IT equipment, they are vulnerable to failure.
Warm up Problems
If your HP Laserjet printer has problems during warm up, turn the printer off and unplug the cable connecting the printer to your computer. Next, turn the printer on and check if it goes to a normal state. If it does, possible problems are driver error, bad connector cable, or bad port on the computer. If the printer does not start normally after you have removed the cable, you may have a bad board in the printer.
